350th Celebration Albemarle Sound Tour
In 1668, four precincts were formed out of the County of Albemarle, the first governmental unit of what would become North Carolina. These four precincts are now the counties of Currituck, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Chowan, were later subdivided further, giving rise to what we now think of as northeastern North Carolina, the Albemarle Region. In 2018, our Region will celebrate the 350th anniversary of this founding through a variety of commemorative activities including for the first time in history a Boat Excursion aboard the Belle of Washington.
Aboard the boat will be Bland Simpson, David Celceski and Tom Earnhardt sharing stories, legends and playing a little NC music for all to enjoy. The Tour will begin in Elizabeth City, the Harbor of Hospitality, with Harbor town stops along the way for touring in Hertford, Edenton, Plymouth, and Columbia.
